Cascades Raptor Center is thrilled to present a selection of artwork from the 2025 Youth Raptor Art Challenge featuring Barn Owl and American Kestrel species. Youth (grades K – 12) from across Oregon creatively captured these raptor’s unique adaptations and their artwork is currently on view. This year we received over 600 artwork submissions! To help us curate the exhibition, a team of University of Oregon students and the Students of Eugene Bird Society helped to select artwork.
We are grateful to all of the youth artists who participated and helped us connect viewers to these local species through their creativity! Artwork will be on display at the Raptor Center and a selection of the exhibition will also be on exhibit at Springfield City Hall through May.
Saturday, March 8 – 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Spend the afternoon learning about American Kestrels! In this workshop, led by Cascades Raptor Center and Mt. Pisgah staff, you will discover unique adaptations of North America’s smallest falcon, learn their identifiers, take a guided walk to see Kestrels onsite (optional), and have some fun creatively engaging with the species.
All skill levels welcome! The workshop includes illustrated American Kestrel handouts and art materials and use of binoculars will be provided. This workshop is great for families (Ages 6 and older) as well as teens and adults. Youth under the age of 14 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
*Workshop will be held at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum. Advanced registration required.
