When Puck was still young enough to be begging for food, he landed on a boy’s head at a park during the summer of 2005. Realizing this was not normal behavior, the family took him to Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek, California – their local rehabilitation facility. Museum staff determined that Puck was a human imprint, with no normal fear response to people. They treated him for a puncture wound on his wing and discovered he also had a retinal tear in his right eye which caused impaired vision. He joined Cascades Raptor Center’s Education Team in September 2005. Puck has enchanted audiences and done hundreds of programs throughout his years at the center. Now that he is semi-retired, he happily meets visitors outside of his aviary and spends the spring season courting guests with generous offers of partially consumed mice.
