Guillermo, an Aplomado Falcon, was hatched in human care in Reno, Nevada, in 2023 and joined the Cascades Raptor Center team at 28 days old.

Aplomado Falcons are found in the far southern United States and throughout Central and South America. They live in grassland habitats and hunt a wide variety of small prey, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects.

They are classified as endangered in their U.S. range, and environmental organizations are currently working to increase their wild population through breeding programs and other conservation efforts. As an educational ambassador, Guillermo helps us teach people about Aplomado Falcons and raise awareness of their threatened status.
