Gold & Platinum Level Adopters of Eowyn:

Violet & Calvin Diehl • Barbara L. Bailey • James James • Jaime Smith • Brennan Edwinson • Altered Tarot

Eowyn was hatched in human care in 2000 at the World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis, Missouri. Her early life in human care prepared her to be a confident and comfortable ambassador for her species. She joined the Cascades Raptor Center team in April 2004.

Eowyn’s favorite activity – at all times of year – is to have a mist-shower from one of her human co-workers. Her second favorite activity is sunning herself afterwards, wings spread wide.

Ferruginous Hawks (pronounced fer-ROO-ji-nuss) get their name from their rusty red coloring (ferruginous comes from the Latin ferrugo, “iron rust”). They can be difficult to observe in the wild, but Eowyn’s presence on the ambassador team allows visitors an up-close glimpse of this amazing species.
