Lorax came into human care when she was about three weeks old, in April of 2005, in Pendleton, Oregon. She joined the Cascades ambassador team the summer of that same year.
Because she began living with humans at such a young age, Lorax is very comfortable around people and has become a much-loved member of the Cascades’ ambassador team. She enjoys her toys and has a special location in her enclosure where she caches (stores) them after training sessions. You may see her running under her crate to retrieve one of her balls.
Lorax is also an expressive bird, frequently talking to the staff and bobbing her head at them as they go about their work. If you see Lorax “dancing”, look around – a trainer might be nearby!
