Gold & Platinum Level Adopters of Olga:

Connie & Domino McArthur • Frank & Ellie Carson • Stonewood Construction

Olga was hatched in human care in 2010 and soon afterward joined a falconer to be a hunting partner. Shortly afterward, however, she had an accident that ended her work in falconry. She then changed careers and taught education programs in Northern California for many years. In September 2021, she joined the Raptor Center’s ambassador team.

The Gyrfalcon (pronounced JEER-falcon) is a high-speed hunter, reaching speeds of up to 130 miles per hour in a dive and nearly 70 miles per hour in level flight. Olga does not reach these speeds in her aviary, but you might see her running around playing with her favorite tennis ball.
