Gold & Platinum level adopters of Echo:

OWL Oncology Research • Sherry Lynn Campbell • Echo Squadron, Eugene Timbers Army • In memory of Tim Rehusch • Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance

Echo the Snowy Owl was born in a conservation breeding program in Buffalo, New York, in June 2025. One of our animal care staff flew to the East Coast, picked her up, and drove cross country with her all the way to Oregon.

Like all new members of our resident raptor team, Echo spent her first months here getting oriented. Before she could be an educational ambassador, she needed to become comfortable with our staff and the environment. We also taught her basic skills she would need on the job, like doing daily weigh-ins and stepping into her travel crate when asked.

You may see Echo spending lots of time on or near the ground in her aviary, which is normal for Snowy Owls. Their natural habitat has few (if any) trees, so they have adapted to using other surfaces for perching.
