Laura Farah has been a Trainer & Educator at Cascades Raptor Center since 2017, and for several years prior, a dedicated volunteer. Before shifting to full time training staff position, they spent many years helping with the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of raptor patients in the CRC wildlife hospital.

Their work is informed by many hours of continuing education courses in behavior analysis, hands-on animal training workshops, as well as their previous work as a licensed massage therapist. (Turns out a foundation in human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology translates well to non-human animals.)

Beyond daily resident raptor husbandry and presenting programs to the public, they enjoy crafting training equipment for some of the residents and the art of coping (trimming & shaping) raptor beaks.

Outside of work, Laura loves imagining other worlds, reading books by QTBIPOC authors (sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, nonfiction), deepening their political education & growing in community. If their nose isn’t in a book they’re probably birding, camping, snacking and/or chillin with their cats and closest kin.
