We also\u00a0triage a\u00a0variety of\u00a0native\u00a0bird species, and some small mammals\u00a0which are transferred to other facilities that have permits to rehabilitate them.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In\u00a0our hospital,\u00a0patients are professionally assessed by\u00a0our veterinarian and rehabilitation staff. Every patient is given the same standard of care that\u00a0you would expect at\u00a0an\u00a0animal\u00a0veterinary hospital. Patients are stabilized with\u00a0oxygen, fluid therapy, and pain management, and\u00a0plans for\u00a0diagnostic workups and nutrition are made on a\u00a0case-by-case\u00a0basis.\u00a0We are fortunate to be able to provide\u00a0diagnostics ranging from blood work to digital radiography\u00a0(X-ray)\u00a0and Computed Tomography (CT).\u00a0Soft tissue and orthopedic\u00a0surgeries,\u00a0as\u00a0well as physical therapy,\u00a0are provided according to the\u00a0patients\u2019\u00a0needs. All of this is done while ensuring our wildlife patients are\u00a0kept in a low\u00a0stress\u00a0environment so that we can ensure\u00a0optimal\u00a0welfare and healing while they are recovering.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Once patients complete their medical\u00a0care\u00a0they are moved to specialized\u00a0outdoor\u00a0aviaries for reconditioning. These aviaries are specifically designed to ensure that birds can fly and maneuver with enough space\u00a0to\u00a0attain\u00a0optimal\u00a0fitness before release.
