Take A Walk on the Wild Side — Full Program

Bring your class, club or group for a woodland adventure, visiting nearly 50 birds of prey! Full program field trip to Cascades Raptor Center includes: 

  • an age-appropriate group presentation tied to your curriculum or interest area: raptors, owls, predators and their prey, life cycles, birds, form and function, or an introduction to raptor rehabilitation 
  • touchable artifacts to demonstrate how sharp a talon is, how feathered an owl's foot can be, how light a hollow bird bone can be, different wing shapes and more! 
  • birds brought out on the glove by staff for an up-close experience with different species of birds of prey; 
  • skulls, nests, eggs, feathers, and feet in the visitor center display cases; 
  • a guided tour of all the birds on-site, with the tour leader highlighting specific aspects of their natural history, habitats, population issues.

Costs are $11 per child 12 and under, $12 per student or senior and $14 per adult, with no charge for accompanying adult chaperones for youth groups up to the Recommended Adult-to-Child Ratios; adults over that number are required to pay the adult program fee. There is a minimum fee of $200 for this program. Sorry, but guest passes cannot be used to pay for program fees. Program fees include admission to the center. Maximum group size is 35 (for larger groups please call to discuss other options).


Take a Walk on the Wild Side — Intermediate Program

Your group will receive a custom 45 minute presentation while viewing different species of raptors on the glove. Once the presentation is finished, the group is welcome to take a self-guided tour of the nearly 50 resident raptors.

Costs are $7.50 per child 12 and under, $9.50 per student or senior and $10.50 per adult, with no charge for accompanying adult chaperones for youth groups up to the Recommended Adult-to-Child Ratios; adults over that number are required to pay the adult program fee. There is a minimum fee of $125 for this program. Sorry, but guest passes cannot be used to pay for program fees. Program fees include admission to the center. Maximum group size is 45.

Your group will receive a custom 30 minute program with one resident raptor on the glove. You are then welcome to take a self-guided tour of the nearly 50 birds on display.

Costs are $6.50 per child 12 and under, $8.50 per student or senior and $9.50 per adult, with no charge for accompanying adult chaperones for youth groups up to the Recommended Adult-to-Child Ratios; adults over that number are required to pay the adult program fee. There is a minimum fee of $100 for this program. Sorry, but guest passes cannot be used to pay for program fees. Program fees include admission to the center. Maximum group size is 45.


Reading with Raptors

A Raptor Experience for the youngest raptor fans...

Watch your students be ENRAPTURED as a story book comes to life with a special "Guest Star" Raptor! A Reading with Raptors program involves a story read out loud by one of our volunteers, while the 'star' of the story sits nearby. 

After story time, participants are welcome to take a self-guided tour to visit our nearly 50 resident birds.   • pre-school and kindergarten: 1:4

Have a 'Bird Day' party at the Cascades Raptor Center


Invite your friends for a special birthday party with nearly fifty birds of prey! Meet Oregon’s native raptor species while wandering along our nature trails after a picnic --outside an Eagle-Owl’s enclosure! Celebrate being another year older and get closer to nature while sharing an awesome experience with your friends and family. Reserve the Raptor Center picnic area for two hours of fun including:

 

  • Creation of a birthday banner
  • An opportunity to handle raptor artifacts like wings and talons
  • An age-appropriate raptor-related craft (Owl pellets, Owl Pine Cones, Turkey Vulture Vomit)
  • A self-guided tour of our nature center
  •  Cost: $100 plus $7.50 per participant, with a minimum fee of $150.

Parties are recommended for kids ages 6-12

*Birthday parties are best scheduled during the dry season, as the party is outside.

 

A Personal Raptor Experience

Receive a private tour with a member of Cascades Raptor Center staff.

Personal Raptor Experience is available for the single raptorphile, or a couple, or a small group up to four people. Must be scheduled in advance. $200 for non-members, $150 for members.

Discounts*
Winter School Group Discount
$1 off general visitor admission fees for school groups of 10 or more during Nov - Mar for a self-guided tour. There is no program associated with this discount.

Please schedule your visit 2 weeks in advance to receive the discount. Chaperones are required up to the Recommended Adult-to-Child Ratios. Chaperones are free, but additional adults are not. 

Groups of 15 or more
10% discount off general admission for a self-guided tour.

*There are no programs associated with these discounts, but Keeper Talks are scheduled throughout the day as our schedule permits.

Weather
Weather can be an issue, as all the birds are in large outside aviaries along a wooded trail; however, programs are held rain or shine. Programs may need to be rescheduled due to snow or ice.

Cancellation
48-hour cancellation notice is required or your group will be charged the minimum fee for the program.

Passes
Free passes cannot be used to pay for program fees.
